RULES AND REGULATIONS OF “GREATER POLAND” CIDER CUP 2023



§1

ORGANISER


  1. The Organiser of Greater Poland Cider Cup contest (hereinafter referred to as GPCC) is Targi Piwne sp. z o.o., ul. Głogowska 31/33, 60-702 Poznań, KRS 0000675606, REGON 367151832.


§2

DURATION, PLACE AND MANNER OF HOLDING THE CONTEST


  1. The Contest will be held on 20-21 October 2023 in Poznań. If more than 10 ciders are entered into the given category, the Jury Chairperson may decide to run a qualifying round, out of which not more than 10 ciders will be qualified for the final round. 


  1. The GPCC Contest will be held in 4 cider categories:


  1. Dry still cider (extract – no restrictions)

  2. Dry sparkling cider (extract – no restrictions)

  3. Ice cider (extract – no restrictions)

  4. Cider with additions (extract – no restrictions)


  1. Each cider mill may enter into the Contest any number of products in each category. One product can only be entered into one category – the same product cannot be entered into different categories.


  1. The Organiser reserve the right to assign cider to the most appropriate category. In case of exceptionally high or low number of entries into a given category, the Organiser reserves the right to change the category: it may be divided or connected.


  1. The cider mill will receive feedback concerning all entered ciders. 



§3

ENTRIES

  1. The Contest is open to all cider mills that are currently active whose products are available on the market.


  1. Ciders can be entered into the Contest by completing and sending the application form, which will be available until 5 October 2022 on the website: https://targipiwne.pl/


  1. There is an entry fee for participation in the competition. The cost of entering a cider into GPCC is:

  • 100 net PLN (+23% VAT) / 22 EUR (+23% VAT) for each beer entered before 30 June 2023

  • 125 net PLN (+23% VAT) / 28 EUR (+23% VAT) for each beer entered between 1 – 31 July 2023

  • 150 net PLN (+23% VAT) / 33 EUR (+23% VAT) for each beer entered on 1 August 2023 or later

The fee is not reimbursable.  


  1. Each manufacturer submitting cider(s) to the Competition is allowed to send 2 company representatives, free of charge, to Poznań Beer Expo on the day of the Awards Ceremony. To claim free entrance one has to contact staff at the gates.


  1. The manufacturers which are exhibitors at Poznań Beer Expo 2023 are exempt from the fee for the first cider entered into the Contest. Exemption from the fee is subject to reservation of the exhibition space at Poznań Beer Expo 2023, which has to be confirmed upon sending the Contest application. 


  1. In case the manufacturer resigns from the participation in Poznań Beer Expo 2023, they will be obliged to pay the fee for the cider entered into the competition in the amount of 150 net PLN.


  1. The fee for all the beers entered into the contest shall be paid within 14 days from the date of completing the application form; however, not later than until 6 October 2023, to the following bank account of the organiser:

The bank transfer title should contain the following data: GP + company name


  1. The manufacturer undertakes to deliver cider to the Contest Organiser between 25 August – 6 October 2022, in the amount of 4 bottles (0.5 litre or bigger) or 8 bottles (smaller than 0.5 litre). (the exception is when the cider is entered in the “Ice cider” category and the capacity of the bottles is less than 0.5 liters – then 5 bottles must be delivered).


  1. The manufacturer may submit ciders evaluated during the Competition to Merchants Panel. Only products that scored more than 35 points will be allowed to Merchants Panel. To participate in the Merchants Panel one has to point it in the application form and send extra 5l of the produce (in bottles of any size).


  1. The bottles must contain a label or substitute label including the manufacturer’s name, product name, as well as extract and style identification.


  1. The organiser will inform the participants by e-mail to which address the packages are to be sent.


  1. All samples sent to the Competition become the Organiser’s property and will not be returned under any circumstances.


  1. The Organiser is not responsible for any damage that occurs during transportation.


  1. The Submitter is responsible for all custom fees. The organiser will not bear any costs of receiving the packages. The package and its documentation should include the clause: “Free Samples. Not for sale”.



§4 

THE JURY


  1. The ciders will be assessed by the Jury composed of experienced judges from Poland and abroad. 


  1. The judges cannot assess their own ciders entered into the Contest.


§5

PRIZES


  1. Maximum three medals will be awarded in each cider category (bronze – 3rd place, silver – 2nd place and gold – 1st place). The Organiser reserve the right not to award or award a smaller number of prizes in a specific category.


  1. The following prizes are awarded in each of 4 categories:

    1. For the 1st place: Diploma, GP distinction, graphic sign “Złoto GP” (Gold GP) to be used for the cider mill’s promotion

    2. For the 2nd place: Diploma, GP distinction, graphic sign “Srebro GP” (Silver GP 2022) to be used for the cider mill’s promotion

    3. For the 3rd place: Diploma, GP distinction, graphic sign “Brąz GP” (Bronze GP) to be used for the cider mill’s promotion


  1. Among the winning ciders in specific categories, the jury will choose through a debate and open vote the cider which will be awarded the title “The Greatest Cider,” GP distinction, and graphic sign ‘“The Greatest Cider GP” to be used for the cider mill’s promotion. 


  1. Additional prizes for  “The Greatest Cider”  title winner are:

  1. the possibility of free-of-charge stand display on Poznań Beer Expo, in the edition following the edition during which the final gala of Greater Poland 2023 will take place, with the priority of choosing the place (the prize includes covering the cost of standard 3x3m stand purchase, according to the price list of Poznań Beer Expo, whereas the winner undertakes to cover all other costs associated with the participation in the Expo, such as the cost of connections, permission to sell alcohol, etc).

  2. promotional services provided by the Poznań Beer Fair, worth PLN 10,000


  1. Among the winning ciders in specific categories, the jury will choose through debate and open vote the cider which will be awarded the 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. The winners will receive the GP distinction and graphic sign GP to be used for the cider mill’s promotion.


  1. GPCC 2023 prizes will be publicly awarded during the Final Gala of Poznań Beer Expo, in the afternoon hours on 24 November 2023. If the author of the cider is absent at the Gala, they may appoint a person authorised to collect the prize.


  1. Submitting cider(s) to the competition earns the participant 2 free tickets to the gala that will be held on 24 November 2023 at Poznań Beer Expo.


  1. Uncollected prizes can be collected from the Organiser after a suitable collection date and place have been arranged. 


§6

FINAL PROVISIONS


  1. The manufacturers entering their ciders into GPCC 2023 hereby consent for their data to be published in Contest-related information, for the personal and contact data of the authors of the ciders entered into GPCC 2023 to be provided to the Contest sponsors and prize founders, as well as for their name, surname and image to be used for promotion of the Greater Poland Cider Cup Contest by the Organiser, i.e. Targi Piwne Sp. z o.o.  


  1. The producers submitting beers to GPBC allow for publishing of evaluation sheets of their beers awarded with medals.  


  1. The Organiser hereby reserves the right to change the Regulations in case any significant and unforeseen external circumstances occur. 


  1. In case of administrative restrictions resulting from the SARS-CoV-19 pandemic, making it impossible to organise GPCC 2022 in the planned form, the Organiser reserves the right to change the form of cider assessment by the Jury and the date of the Contest, or to cancel the Contest. 


  1. The change of cider assessment form or the date of the Contest does not entitle to receive reimbursement of the Contest participation fees. 


  1. In case of a changed date, the Contest Participant who filled out the entry form before implementing changes into the Rules and Regulations, is allowed to implement changes into the categories of entered ciders.


  1. In case of a changed date, the Contest Participant who filled out the entry form and made the payment for the entered ciders, before implementing changes into the Rules and Regulations, is allowed to enter one additional cider, per each 3 cider entered in the entry form, without bearing the entry costs.


  1. In case of complete cancellation of the Contest, the Organiser will reimburse the fees incurred by the Participant for the products entered into the Contest.


  1. The cancellation of Poznań Beer Expo or the cancellation of the Final Gala, referred to in p. 22 does not automatically mean cancellation of the Contest. The cancellation of Poznań Beer Expo and/or the Final Gala does not entitle to receive reimbursement of the Contest participation fees referred to in p. 30.


  1. The ciders submitted to the Contest before the implementation of changes or the cancellation of the Contest shall not be returned.
