RULES AND REGULATIONS OF XIII POZNAŃ HOME BEER COMPETITION  HOSTED AS PART OF THE “GREATER POLAND” BEER CUP 2023



§1

ORGANISER

 

  1. The organiser of Poznań Home Beer Competition – “Poznański Konkurs Piw domowych” (hereinafter referred to as the Competition or PKPD) is Targi Piwne sp. z o.o., ul. Głogowska 31/33, 60-702 Poznań

§2

DURATION, PLACE AND MANNER OF HOLDING THE COMPETITION

 

  1. The Competition will be held on 13-14 October 2022 in Poznań and will be held in accordance with the principles of Good Practice prepared by the Polish Association of Home Brewers.

 

  1. The Competition will be held in 4 beer categories:

  1. Rauchweizen (11-14 Plato)

  2. Bitter (8-12 Plato)

  3. Witbier (11-13 Plato)

  4. Beer with coffee (>8 Plato)

  5. Sake (extract – no restrictions)

 

  1. Each participant may enter into the Competition any number of products in each category. One product can only be entered into one category – the same product cannot be entered into different categories.

 

  1. The Organiser reserve the right to assign beer to the most appropriate category. 

 

  1. The beers entered into the Competition will be evaluated in the BAP electronic system. The participant will receive feedback concerning all entered beers. 



§3

ENTRIES

  1. Only home-brewed beer by individual home brewers or home breweries can participate in the competition. Only commercially available legal raw materials may be used to brew beer.

 

  1. Only adults are allowed to participate in the Competition. By submitting beer to the Competition, the participant declares that he/she is the author of the beer and that he/she is an adult.

 

  1. The entry of products is conducted by filling and sending the form posted on https://targipiwne.pl/ until September 30th. 

 

  1. There is an entry fee for participation in the competition. The cost of submitting beer to the Competition is: 

  • PLN 25 for each registered product

 

The fee is not reimbursable. 

 

  1. The fee for all the products entered into the contest shall be paid within 14 days from the date of completing the application form; however, not later than until September 30th 2023, to the following bank account of the organiser:

The bank transfer title should contain the following data: GP + name and surname of participant 

 

  1. The participant should deliver beer to the contest organiser between 18-30 September 2023, in the amount of 4 bottles (0.5 litre or bigger) or 6 bottles (smaller than 0.5 litre).    

 

  1. The organiser will inform the participants to which address the packages are to be sent.

 

  1. All samples sent to the Competition become the Organiser’s property and may be used by the Organiser for competition marketing purposes.

 

  1. The Organiser is not responsible for any damage that occurs during transportation.




§4 

THE JURY

 

  1. The beers will be assessed by the Jury composed of experienced beer judges from Poland and abroad. 

 

  1. The judges cannot assess their own beers entered into the Competition.

AWARDS

 

  1. Within each beer category, a maximum of three medals will be awarded (bronze – 3rd place, silver – 2nd place and gold – 1st place).

 

  1. The prizes in each of the 6 categories are:

    1. For the 1st place: PKPD Diploma, gifts from PTP 

    2. For the second place: PKPD Diploma, gifts from PTP

    3. For the 3rd place: PKPD Diploma, gifts from PTP 

 

  1. From among the winning beers in each category, the jury will select the beer that will receive the title of “The Greatest Home Beer” in the mode of debate and open voting.

 

  1. Additional prizes for the title winner of “The Greatest Home Beer” title are:

  1. brewing beer according to the winning recipe in Browar Sady,

  2. graphic design of the label for the winning beer, containing information about the brewer (name and surname of the brewer and/or name of the home brewery)

  3. 100 bottles of beer brewed as part of the prize or their equivalent

  4. A gift package from Sady Brewery



  1. The additional prize for the winner of the 1st place in the “Rauchweizen” category is:

  1. Brewing beer in cooperation with the author of the winning recipe at Browar Za Miastem

  2. 100 bottles of beer brewed as part of the prize or their equivalent

  3. Gift package from Browar Za Miastem

 

  1. The additional prize for the winner of the 1st place in the “Bitter” category is:

  1. Brewing beer in cooperation with the author of the winning recipe at Browar Nieczajna

  2. 100 bottles of beer brewed as part of the prize or their equivalent

  3. Gift package from Nieczajna Brewery

 

  1. The additional prize for the winner of the 1st place in the “Witbier” category is:

  1. Brewing beer in cooperation with the author of the winning recipe from Browar Moczybroda

  2. 100 bottles of beer brewed as part of the prize or their equivalent

  3. A package of gifts from the Moczybroda brewery

 

  1. The additional prize for the winner of the 1st place in the “Beer with coffee” category is:

  1. Brewing beer in cooperation with the author of the winning recipe with Harpagan Brewery

  2. 100 bottles of beer brewed as part of the prize or their equivalent

  3. Gift package from Harpagan Brewery

  4. 4 coffees and a cap from Just Brew

  5. Invitation to cupping organized by Just Brew

 

The additional prize for the winner of the 2nd place in the “Beer with coffee” category is:

  1. 2 coffees from Just Brew

  2. Invitation to cupping organized by Just Brew

 

The additional prize for the winner of the 3rd place in the “Beer with coffee” category is:

  1. 1 coffee from Just Brew

  2. Invitation to cupping organized by Just Brew

 

  1. The additional prize for the winner of the 1st place in the category “Sour Ale with Polish fruit” Is:

  1. Brewing beer in cooperation with the author of the winning recipe with Browar Gzub

  2. 100 bottles of beer brewed as part of the prize or their equivalent

  3. A gift package from the Gzub Brewery

 

  1. The additional prize for the winner of the 1st place in the “Sake” category is:

  1. Fair gift package

 

  1. By participating in the Contest, Brewer agrees to the use of its recipe by Browar Sady Sp. z o. o. Sp. K. in order to brew beer and market his or hers beer as The Greatest Home Beer, signed with his  or hers name. In connection with the above, the winner grants Browar Sady Sp. z o. o. Sp. K. consent to the use of his name and surname and image for advertising purposes of The Greatest Home Beer. The winning beer will be brewed in a minimum of 15 hl.

 

The Brewery stipulates that it may use only available and lawful raw materials to brew beer, and that the brewer’s original recipe will be adapted to industrial and market conditions.

 

The brewery will not brew beer that may jeopardize the sanitary regime of the brewery, especially with the use of wild yeast or lactic acid bacteria. The brewery allows lactic acid bacteria only during acidification of the wort in the brewing kettle.

 

In the event that The Greatest Home Beer award is won by a beer that does not meet the above requirements, the Organizer reserves the right to transfer the prizes listed in par. 5, pt. 20, point a. and b. for the benefit of the participant whose beer will be selected by the Judges Committee as the second best beer submitted to the Competition.

 

The winner waives financial claims arising from the sale of beer.

 

  1. By participating in the Contest, the Homebrewer agrees to provide his or her contact details to Browar Za Miastem Sp. z o. o. SKA in order to discuss the recipe proposed by the Homebrewer, and then brew the cooperative beer and market it in an amount of not less than 10 hL. The name and surname of the brewer as the author of the recipe will appear on the beer label.

 

The recipe, including the style of beer and the additives used, as well as the size of the brew, will be determined through discussions between the Homebrewer and representatives of Browar Za Miastem, taking into account the brewery’s technological capabilities, market conditions and compliance with Polish law.

 

The cooperative beer will be brewed by 30.09.2024 at the latest. If, for reasons beyond the control of Browar Za Miastem, in particular in the case of difficult contact with the Homebrewer, inability to implement the project due to the epidemic situation, etc., the prize will not be redeemed within the specified period, the prize will expire and will not be redeemed.

 

Browar Za Miastem covers all costs related to the production and distribution of beer (including the design and printing of labels).

 

The winner waives copyright, except for moral rights to the recipe created in cooperation with Browar Za Miastem and financial claims arising from the sale of beer in accordance with the Act of February 4, 1994 on copyright and related rights. OJ 1994 No. 24 item 83

 

  1. By participating in the Contest, the Homebrewer agrees to transfer his or her contact details to Beer Invest sp. z o.o. in order to discuss the recipe proposed by the Homebrewer, and then brew the cooperative beer and market it in an amount of not less than 10 hL. The name and surname of the brewer as the author of the recipe will appear on the beer label.

 

The recipe, including the style of beer and the additives used, as well as the size of the brew, will be determined through discussions between the Homebrewer and representatives of Browar Nieczajna, taking into account the brewery’s technological capabilities, market conditions and compliance with Polish law.

 

The cooperative beer will be brewed by September 30, 2024 at the latest. If, for reasons beyond the control of Browar Nieczajna, in particular in the case of difficult contact with the Homebrewer, the inability to implement the project due to the epidemic situation, etc., the prize will not be redeemed within the specified period, the prize will expire and will not be redeemed.

 

Browar Nieczajna covers all costs related to the production and distribution of beer (including the design and printing of labels).

 

The winner waives copyright, except for moral rights to the recipe created in cooperation with Browar Nieczajna and financial claims arising from the sale of beer in accordance with the Act of February 4, 1994 on copyright and related rights. OJ 1994 No. 24 item 83

 

  1. By participating in the Contest, the Homebrewer agrees to provide his or her contact details to DM Ptak Sp. j., in order to discuss the recipe proposed by the Homebrewer, and then brew the cooperative beer and market it in an amount of not less than 10 hL. The name and surname of the brewer as the author of the recipe will appear on the beer label.

 

The recipe, including the style of beer and the additives used, as well as the size of the brew, will be determined through discussions between the Homebrewer and representatives of Browar Moczybroda, taking into account the brewery’s technological capabilities, market conditions and compliance with Polish law.

 

The cooperative beer will be brewed by September 30, 2024 at the latest. If, for reasons beyond the control of Browar Moczybroda, in particular in the event of difficult contact with the Homebrewer, inability to implement the project due to the epidemic situation, etc., the prize will not be redeemed within the specified time limit, the prize will expire and will not be redeemed.

 

Browar Moczybroda covers all costs related to the production and distribution of beer (including the design and printing of labels).

 

The winner waives copyright, except for moral rights to the recipe created in cooperation with Browar Moczybroda and financial claims arising from the sale of beer in accordance with the Act of February 4, 1994 on copyright and related rights. OJ 1994 No. 24 item 83

 

  1. By participating in the Contest, the Homebrewer agrees to provide his or her contact details to Gzub – a Polish craft brewery, in order to discuss the recipe proposed by the Homebrewer, and then brew a cooperative beer and market it in an amount of not less than 10 hL. The name and surname of the brewer as the author of the recipe will appear on the beer label.

 

The recipe, including the style of beer and the additives used, as well as the size of the brew, will be determined through discussions between the Homebrewer and representatives of Browar Gzub, taking into account the technological capabilities of the brewery, market conditions, the availability of the fruit used as an additive and compliance with Polish law.

 

The cooperative beer will be brewed by December 31, 2023 at the latest. If, for reasons beyond the control of Browar Gzub, in particular in the case of difficult contact with the Homebrewer, inability to implement the project due to the epidemic situation, etc., the prize will not be redeemed within the specified time, the prize will expire and will not be redeemed.

 

Browar Gzub covers all costs related to the production and distribution of beer (including the design and printing of labels).

 

The winner waives copyright, except for moral rights to the recipe created in cooperation with Browar Gzub and financial claims arising from the sale of beer in accordance with the Act of February 4, 1994 on copyright and related rights. OJ 1994 No. 24 item 83



  1. The presentation of the PKPD awards will take place in public during the Final Gala, during the Poznań Beer Expo on 24th of November,  2023 in the afternoon. In the absence of the author of the beer at the gala, he may designate a person entitled to receive the prize.

 

  1. Submitting a product to the competition entitles the participant to receive 1 ticket to the Final Gala held during the Poznań Beer Expo 2023 (on November 24th).

 

  1. Unclaimed prizes can be collected from the Organizer after prior arrangement of the date and place of collection.

 

§6

FINAL PROVISIONS

 

  1. The brewers entering their beers into PKPD hereby consent for their data to be published in Competition-related information, for the personal and contact data of the authors of the beers entered into PKPD to be provided to the Competition sponsors and prize founders, as well as for their name, surname and image to be used for promotion of the PKPD by the organiser of PKPD, i.e. Targi Piwne Sp. z o.o.  

 

  1. The competitors submitting beers to PKPD allow for publishing of evaluation sheets of their beers awarded with medals.  

 

  1. The Organisers hereby reserve the right to change the Regulations in case any significant and unforeseen external circumstances occur. 

 

  1. In case of administrative restrictions resulting from the SARS-CoV-19 pandemic, making it impossible to organise the Competition in the planned form, the Organiser reserves the right to change the form of beer assessment by the Jury and the date of the Competition, or to cancel the Competition. 

 

  1. The change of beer assessment form or the date of the Competition does not entitle to receive reimbursement of the Competition participation fees. 

 

  1. In case of changed date, the Competition Participant who filled out the entry form before implementing changes into the Rules and Regulations, is allowed to implement changes into the categories of entered beers.

 

  1. In case of changed date, the Competition Participant who filled out the entry form and made the payment for the entered beers, before implementing changes into the Rules and Regulations, is allowed to enter one additional beer, per each 3 beers entered in the entry form, without bearing the entry costs.

 

  1. In case of complete cancellation of the Competition, the Organiser will reimburse the fees incurred by the Participant for the products entered into the Competition.

 

  1. The cancellation of Poznań Beer Expo or the cancellation of the Final Gala, referred to in p. 27 does not automatically mean cancellation of the Competition. The cancellation of Poznań Beer Expo and/or the Final Gala does not entitle to receive reimbursement of the Competition participation fees referred to in p. 35.

 

  1. The beers submitted to the Competition before the implementation of changes or the cancellation of the Competition shall not be returned.
