The goal of the competition
The aim of the Greater Poland Mead Cup competition is to select and promote the best meads produced by professionals in Poland and abroad. The judging criteria will be based on taste, aroma, appearance, adherence to style, and overall impression left by the mead.

Early Birds 1 - (August 1-14) - 28 EUR (+23% VAT)
Early Birds 2 - (August 15-31) - 34 EUR* (+23% VAT)
September 1 - September 30 - 40 EUR* (+23% VAT)

The prizes in each of the 6 categories are as follows:
1st place: Diploma, GP 2023 Award, Gold GP 2023 graphic symbol for use in meadery promotion
2nd place: Diploma, GP 2023 Award, Silver GP 2023 graphic symbol for use in meadery promotion
3rd place: Diploma, GP 2023 Award, Bronze GP 2023 graphic symbol for use in meadery promotion
Main prize
Among the winning meads in each category, one mead will be selected as “The Greatest Mead”. The prizes for the winner of this title are:
GP 2022 Award and “The Greatest Mead GP 2022” graphic symbol for use in meadery promotion
A free booth at the Poznań Beer Fair (in the edition following the GP 2023 announcement)
Promotional services package provided by Targi Piwne Sp. z o.o. worth 10,000 PLN
Additionally, the 2nd and 3rd places will be awarded as follows:

Fruit mead

We have many wonderful combinations of mead with fruits. With apples, grapes, blackberries, or cherries. The choice of fruits is vast, limited only by our imagination. However, one must remember about balance, as it is what characterizes the most exceptional fruit meads.
In this category, you should enter the following types of mead:
- Cyser – made with apples, pears, or quinces
- Pyment – made with grapes
- Mead with pome fruits
- Mead with stone fruits
- Melomel – made with other fruits

Spice mead

Mead with additives includes not only fruits but also spices. Starting from cinnamon, ginger, cloves, through vanilla, mint leaves, or rose petals. The richness of spices also includes herbs and roots of various plants. However, let’s continue to remember the importance of maintaining balance, so that the spices do not overpower the character of the mead.

The richness of mead enthusiasts’ ideas knows no bounds. Mead with coffee, tea, spicy peppers? Braggot? Other experiments? This category is precisely the place for it!
In this category, you can submit the following types of mead:

- Experimental mead
- Historical mead

The Judges
The judging panel will consist of professionals and outstanding sensory experts, who possess certificates, experience gained from other competitions, and other achievements in the field of sensory evaluation. The full composition of the judging panel will be announced soon.
