WHAT IS GREATER POLAND?
Greater Poland includes five competitions, addressed to both professionals and hobbyists in the field of beer brewing and cider production from around the world. The Greater Poland brand consists of:
- GREATER POLAND BEER CUP
A competition addressed to professional breweries, in which the best of the best will be selected from among the beers submitted to 45 categories.
- GREATER POLAND CIDER CUP
The competition is addressed to professional cider mills. Cider makers can submit their products to 4 categories, and the jury will decide which of them deserve to be called the winner.
- GREATER POLAND DESIGN CUP
The competition is addressed to professional breweries and cider mills, creative agencies, graphic designers and students. The competition will evaluate the labels and packaging of beers and ciders, advertising gadgets and conceptual designs. Participants can compete in 8 categories.
- GREATER POLAND – POZNAŃ HOME BEER COMPETITION
A competition with many years of tradition addressed to home brewers. This time, the brewers will compete in 4 categories and the winning beer will be brewed in Browar Sady and put on sale on the Polish market signed with the name of the recipe’s author!
- GREATER POLAND CIDER CUP HOME
A competition addressed for home cider makers who can test themselves in 3 categories. The best cider will be produced by Slow Flow Group, the producer of the Smykan cider and will be put on sale on the Polish market signed with the name of the recipe’s author!
WHEN WILL THE GREATER POLAND 2022 COMPETITIONS BE HELD?
Judging of the submitted products will be held on November 15-17, 2022, and the announcement of the results will take place on the Final Gala during the Poznań Beer Expo, November 18, 2022.
HOW AND BY WHEN CAN APPLICATIONS BE SUBMITTED?
Acceptance of applications will start on August 1 and will end on October 28, 2022. You can find out how to submit applications for the Competition by clicking on the competition logo at the top of the page.
WHO WILL EVALUATE THE SUBMITTED PRODUCTS?
Applications from breweries and cider mills, as well as from home hobbyists, will be judged by experienced professionals: beer and cider judges, sensors, and in the Design Cup competition – people professionally related to the topic of design and packaging production. The judges will be headed by the Heads of the Jury: Maciej Wentowski and Maciej Mazurek. The competition will be supervise by main organizer: Grzegorz Stachurski.
Maciej Wentowski
Experienced brewer, certified beer and mead judge. A graduate of Brewing Technology at the University of Agriculture in Krakow. Multiple medal winner in professional beer and mead competitions. Years ago, he began his adventure with beer brewing in a craft brewery in Poznań, and for two years he has been the Production Manager and Main Brewer at Browar Sady. He shares his knowledge in the industry quarterly Piwowar, and also publishes his articles on the Poznań Beer Expo blog. Co-organizes tastings and training for people passionate about beer.
Privately, he is passionate about Hungarian culture, a lover of peat whiskey and a father of two children for whom he learns juggling.
Maciej Mazurek
He has been working in the graphics and advertising industry for 15 years. As a graphic designer, he worked in advertising agencies and on the client’s side. Since 2012, he has been running his own graphic company, Zuchowe Studio, and since 2019 also Bukebuk – a company that supports authors publishing in the self-publishing model. An artist and philosopher by education (ethics of advertising). Since 2015, he has been a lecturer at Collegium Da Vinci. He conducts classes on social media and graphics. Since 2009, he has been blogging and drawing comics – zuch.media.
He works and has worked for brands such as: Luxtorpeda, Epson, HP, Intel, PKO BP, Allegro, Renault, Poznań Beer Fair, Tomasz Kopyra, Kompania Piwowarska, Greenpeace, Wrigley, Uber and others.
Privately, husband of one wife, father of three kids, master of the wayward Beagle Pepper. A lover of coffee, craft stouts and sitting at night on projects and Playstation.
